Sen. Johnes Mwaruma (Taita Taveta) has sought a statement from the Senate Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare regarding the status of statutory deductions for employees of Taita Taveta County.

In his request, Sen. Mwaruma has urged the Committee to provide an update on the remittance of statutory deductions by the County Government of Taita Taveta and identify any entities that have not yet received these funds.

Sen. Julius Murgor led Committee should present a report on the status of statutory deductions from health workersโ€™ payments particularly in light of the return-to-work agreement signed between the health workersโ€™ union and the County Government.

Further, the Committee should outline the measures put in place to clear all pending statutory deductions and establish a roadmap to prevent future backlogs.

Additionally, Sen. Mwaruma has sought a statement from the Senate Committee on Finance and Budget regarding the utilization of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) allocation for constituencies in Taita Taveta County.

The Committee has been tasked with providing a detailed breakdown of NG-CDF allocations for Voi, Mwatate, Wundanyi and Taveta constituencies from the 2017/2018 to the 2024/2025 financial years.
