Senator David Wakoli (Bungoma) has sought a statement from the Senate Committee on Labour and Social Welfare regarding recruitment, promotion and staff development practices at the Nairobi City County Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Control Board.

Wakoli is pressing for transparency in the Boardโ€™s human resource policies, seeking assurances that recruitment and promotions adhere to fairness, inclusivity and national public service standards.

The Senator has called for a detailed breakdown of the Boardโ€™s staff complement by position, questioning whether the composition reflects Kenyaโ€™s regional and ethnic diversity. Should disparities exist, he demands an explanation of corrective measures being taken.

He is also seeking a full list of senior management members, including their academic qualifications and professional experience, to assess the leadership overseeing the Boardโ€™s operations.

Further, Wakoli wants details on the most recent recruitment and promotion processes, including whether vacancies were advertised internally, externally or both, and the criteria used in candidate selection. He is particularly keen to establish whether participation in training and capacity-building programmes influenced promotion decisions.

Additionally, the Senator has requested a comprehensive list of officers who previously served in the defunct Nairobi City County Betting, Licensing and Regulation Board and later transitioned to the current entity. He seeks clarity on their previous and current roles within both Boards.
