Senator Kinyua seeks answers on certified seed shortage at Kenya Seed Company

Senator John Kinyua (Laikipia) has requested a Statement from the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries regarding the ongoing shortage of certified seeds at Kenya Seed Company Limited.

In his request, Sen. Kinyua specifically urged the Committee to address the shortage of certified maize seeds raising concerns over the impact on farmers ahead of the upcoming planting season.

The Committee, chaired by Sen. Wafula Wakoli (Bungoma) has been tasked with establishing the measures in place to ensure seed availability. Additionally, the Committee is expected to probe the availability and quality of other certified seeds from the company.
