Senator Raphael Chimera has asked the Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources to give a Statement regarding persistent delays in the processing of certificates of titles in land registries across the country.
In his request, Sen. Chimera wants the Committee to investigate and outline the reasons behind the widespread delays in land title processing and to provide clarity on the current state of operations within the registries nationwide.
He further asked the Committee to look into the reported shortage of essential documents required for title deed processing which continues to frustrate applicants and delay service delivery.
He also sought details on the measures being undertaken by the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development to address the challenge, as well as the specific timelines for the full restoration of normal operations in all land registries.
The Lawmaker emphasised the urgent need for effective solutions, stating that securing land rights is a critical step toward economic empowerment and sustainable development for many Kenyan families.
