Senator Lelegwe seeks clarity on Equalization Fund Projects in Samburu County

Sen. Lelegwe Ltumbesi (Samburu) has requested a Statement from the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget regarding the status of projects funded through the Equalization Fund during the Financial Year 2022/2023 in Samburu County.

In his request, Senator Lelegwe is seeking a comprehensive report from the Committee detailing all projects financed through the Equalization Fund in the county during the referenced financial year. The report should include the full list of funded projects, their respective budget allocations and the timelines set for their implementation.

The Senator has further called on the Committee to provide information on the criteria used to identify and select these projects, and whether public participation was conducted in accordance with Article 232(1)(d) of the Constitution. He has asked for details of any such participation exercises, including the stakeholders involved.

Additionally, the Committee has been asked to shed light on the current implementation status of each project. That includes the percentage of completion, any delays encountered, the specific challenges affecting progress and the mitigation measures being undertaken to address them.

Senator Lelegwe has requested a detailed explanation of the disbursement structure of the Equalization Funds including the tranches released to date, any delays experienced in disbursement, the reasons for such delays and the steps being taken to fast track the process to ensure uninterrupted implementation of the projects.
