Senator Sifuna seeks answers regarding a parcel of land controlled by KDF

Senator Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi) has sought a Statement from the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations regarding the parcel of land, LR No. 5871/2, situated near Thika Road Mall (TRM) in Roysambu Constituency. 

According to Sen. Sifuna, the land in question was previously occupied by the defunct Uchumi Supermarket chain and is currently under the control of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

In his request, the Lawmaker wants the Committee to address the current use and development status of the parcel of land by the Kenya Defence Forces. 

Additionally, the Committee chaired by Sen. Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo) is required to evaluate how the KDF’s presence and utilization of the land will benefit the local community in Roysambu Ward, Roysambu Constituency, comparable with the public benefits that citizens in other regions living around military installations enjoy, including but not limited to access to schools, hospitals, or other
