CHEMITEI SWORN IN AS NEW BARINGO SENATOR

Hon. Kiprono Cheburet Chemitei has been sworn in as the Senator for Baringo County this Tuesday following his victory in the recently concluded by-election, which was necessitated by the passing of the late Senator William Cheptumo.
Speaker Amason Kingi presided over the ceremony, congratulating Senator Chemitei on his election and formally welcoming him to the Senate.
Elected on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, Senator Chemitei was escorted to the Chair by Senators Veronica Maina, Alexander Mundigi and Dr.Lelegwe Ltumbesi. After being introduced, he proceeded to take the oath of office, pledging to obey, respect, uphold, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya.
Senator Okong`o Mogeni (Nyamira) congratulated the new legislator and encouraged him to serve Kenyans diligently. He expressed confidence in Senator Chemitei’s ability to settle in quickly, urging him to embrace the Senate’s spirit of solidarity.
“We are brothers and sisters and I have no doubt that you will flourish as a Senator in this House,” said Senator Mogeni.
Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) also welcomed the new Senator assuring him of strong support from colleagues and staff to help him acclimatise and execute his duties effectively.
“I have no doubt that young Senator Chemitei joins us with great potential, which will be sharpened in the coming days as he interacts with colleagues, receives training from highly competent staff and learns from the many members here who represent diverse facets of life,” said Senator Cheruiyot.
He added, “I am convinced that the people of Baringo made the right decision in sending us such a brilliant young man to join other young leaders in this House who continue to work tirelessly to ensure that devolution succeeds in this country.”
