Deputy Senate Majority Leader Sen. Tabitha Karanja Keroche has called on senators to use the Fifth Session Planning Retreat to strengthen Kenya's devolved governance structure.

Speaking as host senator at the Senate Assessment and Planning Retreat held in Naivasha, Nakuru County, Sen. Keroche declared:

"Devolution remains the heartbeat of our governance. It is critical that the Senate continues to protect and defend the devolved governance structure as enshrined in the Constitution."

The lawmaker, who represents Nakuru County, welcomed colleagues to her home turf, saying:

"We are proud that you chose Nakuru County, home of Africa's leading geothermal energy generation and the Home of Flamingos, for this high-stakes planning session."

Urging senators to remain focused as the parliamentary term nears its end, she challenged them:

"Let us embark on this Fifth Session retreat with the resolve to leave a lasting legacy of sustainable progress for our nation."

The retreat, running from February 26th to March 1st, 2026, brings together all 67 senators under the theme: "Advancing the Senate's Agenda: Review, Strategy and Sustainable Progress."
