National Assembly declares vacancies for Committee Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons

𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

Vacancies for the Offices of Committee Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons have been declared in 38 Committees of the National Assembly with elections scheduled for Wednesday, 12th March and Thursday, 13th March 2025.

This follows the re-constitution and approval of Members to serve in 38 Committees on the afternoon of Wednesday, 5th March, 2025.

In a letter to dated, Thursday, March 6th 2025 addressed to lawmakers, the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr Samuel Njoroge said "In exercise of the powers conferred under the provisions of Standing Order 179 (2) declared vacancies in the Office of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of 38 Committees."

Mr. Njoroge added that, "A Member of Parliament from the relevant Committee who desire to vie for the position of Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson are requested to collect nomination papers from designated offices."

Members seeking to vie for the Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson positions in the Audit, Appropriations, and General Purpose Committees are required to submit their nomination papers to the Director at 4th Floor, Room No. 401, Continental House, Parliament Buildings, by Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
