Gilgil MP, Hon. Martha Wangari joins Kenya and the world in celebrating the 2025 International Women’s Day

Hon. Martha Wangari acknowledged the progress made in advancing the rights of women and addressed the challenges facing women in relation to Gender based Violence and Femicide. She highlights the challenges in prosecution of cases and lack of DNA testing centers for collecting evidence

“We have come a long way but in terms of GBV, there is still more to be done. The courts must take action. Let us not have cases of defilement and rape dragging on for three years," she stated.

Hon. Wangari added that, "Access to DNA testing remains a challenge. I have tried to fast-track cases where DNA testing has taken more than six months. Nakuru County with two million inhabitants has no DNA testing center you either send it to Nairobi or Kisumu. What about those who can not get?"
