The Parliamentary Service Commission of the Transitional National Legislature of the Republic of South Sudan has commenced a week-long benchmarking visit to the Parliamentary Service Commission of Kenya. The visit seeks to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, governance, and administrative best practices through structured engagements.
The delegation was welcomed at County Hall by Mr. Jeremiah M. Nyegenye, CBS, Clerk of the Senate and Secretary to the Parliamentary Service Commission. In his remarks, Mr. Nyegenye provided a comprehensive overview of Kenya’s bicameral parliamentary system, elaborating on the distinct roles of the National Assembly and the Senate in legislation, oversight, and representation. He further highlighted the mandate of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) in ensuring efficient service delivery within Parliament, including support services, administrative structures, and legislative functions.
The benchmarking sessions will cover legislative procedures, parliamentary governance, and administrative frameworks. The delegation is also set to interact with key parliamentary leaders, observe parliamentary proceedings, and tour Parliament’s precincts to gain insights into Kenya’s legislative operations.
The visit will continue throughout the week, with further engagements planned in the coming days.
