The Clerk of the Senate and Secretary to the Parliamentary Service Commission, Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye has applauded Bunge Sports Club Secretariat for the resounding success of the 14th Edition of the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games, held in Mombasa County last December.

Speaking during the official launch of a post-games review retreat, Mr. Nyegenye commended the Secretariat for their exceptional leadership and seamless organization, which ensured a truly memorable sporting event for the region.

"I extend my sincere appreciation, and that of the Parliamentary Service Commission, to each of you for your outstanding coordination in hosting these games," Mr. Nyegenye stated.

β€œYour dedication has showcased Kenya's ability to host a world-class sporting event. We recognize the profound benefits of sports, not only for physical fitness but also for mental well-being”, he told the organizing team.

The retreat, aimed to critically assess the games and identify areas for improvement, provided a crucial platform for participants to reflect on the tournament.

Mr. Nyegenye encouraged the Secretariat to leverage their experiences to enhance future events while strategically aligning their activities with the Commission's Resolutions.

β€œThis retreat provides us a great opportunity to evaluate our performance during the 14th Edition of the EAC-IPG tournament,to identify any gaps on the tournament, and to propose innovative solutions. The insights gained here will be instrumental in shaping the future of parliamentary sports activities”, stated Clerk Nyegenye.

Highlighting the broader significance of sports, Mr. Nyegenye underscored its role in promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle. He emphasized this with a quote from renowned entrepreneur and author, Jim Rohn: "Take care of your body; it’s the only place you have to live."

Noting that sports are not merely about competition," he added, β€œThey are a powerful tool for stress reduction, mood enhancement, and the overall improvement of mental and physical health. I urge you to prioritize your health through active participation in sports while fostering both personal growth and a healthier society."

He also encouraged the retreat attendees to contribute their valuable perspectives and proposals, so as to ensure that the legacy of the 14th EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games continues to inspire and promote regional unity through sports.
