Principal Secretary Nominee, State Department for Devolution to be vetted todayNational Assembly Departmental Committee on Regional Development to conduct 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠/𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 of the Principal Secretary Nominee, 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧 today, 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝟎:𝟎𝟎 𝐚𝐦 at Bunge Tower, Parliament Buildings.
Vide a Notification from the Speaker (No. 003 of 2025) dated 26th March, 2025, the Speaker of the National Assembly conveyed a message from His Excellency the President, who, in exercise of his powers under Articles 132(2)(d) and 155(3) of the Constitution nominated fourteen (14) persons for appointment as Principal Secretaries.
The Parliamentary approval of appointments to public offices is governed by the Constitution, the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act and the National Assembly Standing Orders.
The Constitution, the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act and the Standing Orders require the relevant Committees to conduct approval hearings of the nominees to ascertain their suitability for appointment.
