In solidarity with Nyamira County MP. Hon. Jerusha Momanyi, some members of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) held a significant event at Borabu Comprehensive School to address Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The function followed a recent disturbing GBV case involving a woman who was forcefully dragged and beaten by a group of men after refusing to throw soil onto a grave during a burial.

The Women leaders held a sensitization meeting with the local community aimed at enlightening the local community on the importance of tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

Members of KEWOPA condemned the incident, urging community members to uphold love, empathy and respect, especially in moments of grief.

They urged Nyamira County residents to end GBV and give women equal opportunities in leadership positions.

Members of Parliament present were; Hon. Ruth Odinga (Kisumu), Hon. Linet Chepkorir Toto (Bomet), Hon. Fatuma Masito (Kwale), Hon. Lilian Siyoi (Transzoia), Hon. Dorice Donya (Kisii), Hon. Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga) and Hon. Irene Mayaka (nominated).
