The Selection Panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as Chairperson and members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) concluded its third week of interviews today, having evaluated 74 candidates thus far.

This total includes 11 candidates seeking the Chairperson position and 63 garnering for member roles.

Notably, Ms. Esther Nanjala Wekesa, Mr. Joseph Kipchumba Kigen Katwa and Ms.Margaret Nasambu Barasa, shortlisted for member positions, withdrew their applications, citing personal reasons.

The panel now prepares to interview the remaining 45 candidates shortlisted for member positions.

Chaired by Dr. Nelson Makanda, the nine-member panel commenced interviews on March 27, 2025, and is scheduled to complete the process by April 25, 2025.

Following the interviews, the panel will submit a list of two nominees for Chairperson and nine nominees for member positions to the President, who will then appoint one Chairperson and six members to the Commission.
