IICYMI: Kenyan delegation rallies the Great Lakes Region behind gender parity campaign

Luanda, Angola. Friday 25th April, 2025.

A delegation from the Parliament of Kenya has rallied the Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) behind the campaign for gender parity and inclusiveness in leadership.

The delegation led by Senate Speaker the Rt. Hon. Amason Kingi who is in Luanda, Angola for the 15th Ordinary Session of the FP-ICGLR noted that more campaigns against gender biases and unfavourable cultural stereotypes were critical in the clamour to entrench an all-inclusive decision-making and leadership model across the region.

Other delegation members are Mandera Senator Ali Roba, his Nyeri counterpart Wahome Wamatinga, Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian and Buuri MP Hon Mugambi Rindikiri.

Sen. Roba made Kenya's opening remarks on behalf of Speaker Kingi during the Plenary Assembly of the FP-ICGLR. Here is a brief excerpt from his speech.
