๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ- The Public Participation exercise on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2025 has commenced in Mandera County.
The team from the National Assembly led by Clerk Assistant Mr. Aden Keinan has set base at the Mandera East Constituency Office, in Mandera Town.
Residents led by key stakeholders in the health and education sectors are among those making their submissions to the team.
The stakeholders led by the County Director of Education Mr. Abdi Sheikh have expressed dismay that the current operating Funds; the National Government- Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) and the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) are not entrenched in the Constitution.
We are dismayed by the fact which we have just learnt of when you were briefing us that this fund which has had a tremendous impact in promoting education in the area is not enshrined in the Constitutionโ, the County Director of Education stated.
โWe want to call upon the government to go beyond ensuring the law is enshrined in the Constitution and increase the Fund so as to support the advancement of education in the countyโ, he added.
Citing personal examples of how the Funds have transformed the lives of the people in the County, they have called for the expedited anchorage of the Funds in the Constitution, as well as scaling up of the Funds to help supplement funds disbursed to the County.
Earlier, the team called on the Assistant County Commissioner Mr. Solomon Kitiyo at his office.
