The family of the late Kasipul Member of Parliament, Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, has urged investigative authorities to expedite and deepen their probe into his brutal killing.

They demanded that all those involved in his heinous murder be swiftly brought to justice.

The appeal was made during a solemn requiem mass and burial ceremony held at Karabok Primary School Grounds. The event drew hundreds of mourners, including relatives, friends, and political leaders, who gathered to pay their final respects to the late legislator.

In an emotional tribute, the MP’s widow, Maggie Were, called on the government to take firm action against those responsible.

“We will only find peace when justice is served. My husband served this community with commitment and was taken from us in a cruel and senseless manner. We deserve answers,” she said.

Her co-wife, Ann Were, echoed similar sentiments, during the emotional funeral service attended by several MPs led by National Assembly Speaker Rt Hon (Dr) Moses Masika Wetang'ula, E.G.H,MP among other dignitaries.

“Today we are not just burying a husband—we are burying a father, a leader, and the foundation of this family. The government must help us uncover the truth," she stated.

The late MP’s son, Pascal Were, made a strong pledge on behalf of the family.

“Our father did not raise cowards. We will not be intimidated. We demand justice, and we will not rest until it is achieved,” he said, earning applause from the crowd.

Paul Juma Were, the MP’s elder brother, voiced the family's deep sorrow and confusion over the motive behind the killing.

“Who would want my brother dead? Why was he targeted? These are questions we need answered. The police must get to the bottom of this,” he said, while urging investigators to step up their efforts.

“We acknowledge the progress made, but more must be done. The perpetrators must be held accountable,” he added.

Boyd Were, the MP’s second-born son, issued a strong message to anyone seeking to intimidate the family.

“We will not be silenced. Our father stood for truth and justice. We will honor him by ensuring those responsible are brought to book,” he said.
