Today National Assembly Members of staff joined thousands of Kenyan fitness enthusiasts at the Alliance Classic Run held at the Alliance High School in Kikuyu.

More than 100 staff members, led by the Chairperson of the staff wellness Committee Director Dishon Nyaga, participated in the 8th edition of the annual event.

Speaking after the event, Director Nyaga expressed appreciation to the National Assembly for facilitating staff participation. He emphasized the value of physical fitness in enhancing workplace productivity.

"A healthy staff is a productive staff. We are grateful to the National Assembly management for sponsoring our participation in this important event," he stated.

The staff team coordinator Dr. Kuria Waitara who spoke during the closing ceremony also lauded the move by the management to engage in the run and support the education of the less fortunate students.

“This is was a great experience, and as the National Assembly we are elated to be a part of this process that will benefit hundres of students.” Said Dr. Kuria.

Participants had the option of competing in the 5km, 10km, or 21km categories. They were awarded Medals after completing the races in the respective categories.

The race route took runners through the scenic Kikuyu town, Gikambura market, and along the Southern Bypass.

The Alliance Classic Run is a wholly volunteer effort by old boys of the Alliance High School that organizes and hosts a charity run once a year (on the 3rd Saturday of the month of May) to raise funds that are endowed to the ‘ACR Fund’

The ACR has since 2018 been raising money for the ACR Fund that are to be applied towards awarding of scholarships to boys from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, and as well as for exemplary merit (in class and/or in sports) by boys admitted to the Alliance High School.

The money also goes into funding development and maintenance of sports facilities at the Alliance High School; as well as funding sports activities by the students of the Alliance High School, at school level and representing the school in inter-school competitions.
