Speaker Wetang’ula in Brazil for high-level dialogue on food security

National Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, arrived in Brasilia, Brazil, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 to attend the Second Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security.
The high-level meeting brings together leaders from Africa and Brazil to discuss joint strategies for combating hunger and promoting sustainable agriculture across the Global South.
Speaker Wetang’ula joined Brazilian President H.E. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, First Lady Rosangela Lula da Silva, and Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, for the official opening of the forum.
He is accompanied by Hon. Sabina Chege, Hon. Zaheer Jhanda (MP for Nyaribari Chache), and Mr. Stephen Apopo, Director and Chief of Staff in the Office of the Speaker.
The Kenyan delegation is expected to engage with international partners on long-term solutions to food insecurity and to strengthen Kenya’s bilateral relations with Brazil. The visit also aims to foster greater collaboration among African countries in building resilient and sustainable food systems.
