Bunge Tower, Parliament Buildings. Thursday, 5th June 2025.
The Departmental Committee on Tourism and Wildlife, chaired by Hon. Kareke Mbiuki (MP, Maara), on Thursday, held a session with Principal Secretary for Tourism Mr. John Ololtuaa and Tourism Promotion Fund (TPF) CEO Mr. Stephen Kinyanjui to receive updates on key development projects funded under the Supplementary II Budget for the Financial Year 2024/2025.
The engagement focused on tracking the progress of flagship tourism initiatives, accountability in budget implementation, and the sustainability of sector investments.
“We are keen on ensuring that the funds allocated are delivering real impact on the ground. Timely execution and value-for-money are not negotiable,” said Hon. Mbiuki, reaffirming the Committee’s oversight mandate.
PS Ololtuaa assured the Committee of ongoing efforts to align all funded projects with national tourism priorities. “The Ministry is committed to transparency and delivering transformative projects that position Kenya as a leading global tourism destination,” he said.
Mr. Kinyanjui, on his part, emphasized the role of the Tourism Promotion Fund in enabling infrastructure development. “Our goal is to strategically invest in areas that will enhance tourist experiences and drive economic returns,” he stated.
The Committee underscored the importance of coordination among stakeholders to guarantee efficient implementation and long-term benefits from government-funded tourism projects.
