MPs Complete Final Training Module at Kenya Democracy Academy

Members of Parliament have concluded the fifth and final module of a leadership and capacity-building training programme held at the Kenya Democracy Academy.

The intensive training brought together Members of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) and the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA).

 It was facilitated by the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) and other partners. 

The final module focused on legislative drafting and personal wellness. Lawmakers were taken through key aspects of drafting laws, as well as the importance of personal wellbeing in effectively serving the public.

The Kenya Democracy Academy, launched by NIMD in October 2023, aims to strengthen democratic governance through training programmes for political leaders.

The current cohort, comprising MPs from both the National Assembly and the Senate, is the first to undergo the programme. 

They are expected to graduate next week, marking the successful completion of the leadership initiative.
