Tuesday, July 15, 2025

Social media managers working for female Members of Parliament have completed a comprehensive training program focused on improving strategic communication in the digital space.

The training was organized by the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) in collaboration with the Institute of Public Finance (IPF).

The program aimed to enhance digital advocacy and communication skills, with a strong emphasis on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool to support political messaging and engagement.

Participants were trained on how to apply AI in political communication, including personalizing content for target audiences, using analytics for better engagement, and responsibly automating parts of digital crisis management. The workshop also addressed the ethical use of AI in public communication.

At the sessions, the social media managers were guided on how to promote positive publicity for women leaders and strengthening their public image. Attendees learned how to use strategic communication tools effectively while maintaining digital security in an increasingly complex online environment.

Facilitators emphasized that the digital space is a powerful platform for leadership, public engagement, and advocacy. They encouraged the participants to support women MPs in building safer, smarter, and more impactful online communication strategies.

In addition, the participants were briefed on the role of the Parliamentary Media Relations Department and explored ways to collaborate in safeguarding the public image of MPs and Parliament. Best practices for working with the press were also discussed.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session where participants shared experiences and discussed both the challenges and innovative approaches to digital political communication.
