Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at Our Lady Consolata Church, Sagana, to bid farewell to Parliamentary Service Commission staff member Rose Muringo Wanjohi.
The burial ceremony in Sagana drew members of staff from the Parliamentary Service Commission and other mourners, who remembered her vibrant spirit, cheerful personality, and readiness to assist others.
In their messages of condolence, Senate Clerk and Secretary to the PSC Jeremiah Nyegenye and National Assembly Clerk Samuel Njoroge described the late Ms. Wanjohi as a hardworking, dependable, and selfless officer.
Speeches delivered by Director of Departmental Committees Peter Chemweno, Mr. Nyegenye, and Mr. Njoroge celebrated her service, character, and dignity. Colleagues honored her life with gratitude and mourned her passing with deep sorrow.
Mr. Nyegenye further noted that beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Wanjohi would be remembered for the warmth and humanity she showed to colleagues and many others.
“Colleagues speak of her openness and the ease with which she listened, even amid the demands of a busy workday. Through simple acts of kindness, she built bonds that strengthened not only working teams but also long-lasting friendships,” he said.
He noted that she carried out her work with dedication and a deep understanding of the responsibility entrusted to her.
“She was meticulous, dependable, and deeply respectful of Parliament’s work. She was committed and dutiful, and her death is a significant loss to the Parliamentary Service and the broader Parliamentary fraternity,” said Mr. Nyegenye.
Mr. Njoroge equally described her life as meaningful, impactful, and dignified, noting that she approached her duties with seriousness of purpose and a deep appreciation of the solemn responsibility entrusted to her.
He said the late Ms. Wanjohi possessed a keen understanding of parliamentary procedure and a steadfast respect for the institution she served.
“Meticulous in her work, dependable in her leadership, and guided by a strong sense of duty, she made a significant contribution to strengthening committee operations and to the broader legislative process. Her legacy in Parliament is etched in her commitment to excellence and her quiet yet resolute service to the nation,” Mr. Njoroge said.
He added that she carried herself with grace and humility and was always ready to offer guidance, support, or simply a listening ear.
Even amid the pressures of a demanding work environment, he noted, she always made time for others.
Mr. Njoroge said that through small but meaningful acts of kindness, Ms. Wanjohi nurtured friendships and strengthened teamwork not only within her department but also across the institution.
“Her presence brought reassurance, steadiness, and humanity to every space she entered. We mourn not only a distinguished officer but also a colleague, a mentor, a friend, and a cherished member of our parliamentary family,” he said.
He emphasised that the PSC had lost a dedicated professional, a dependable leader, and a gracious soul whose influence would endure through the many lives she touched.
Ms. Wanjohi joined Parliament as a Clerk Assistant, serving in committees including Finance and National Planning, Labour, and, most recently, the Education Committee.
Through steadfast dedication, unassailable professionalism, and deep knowledge of parliamentary procedure, she continually impressed both her superiors and peers.
She steadily advanced through the ranks of the PSC to the highly respected position of Principal Clerk II in the Directorate of Committee Services within the National Assembly of Kenya.
The senior role placed her at the heart of the legislative process, where she provided expert advice and coordinated key parliamentary committees, a responsibility she carried out with distinction and integrity until her untimely death.
According to colleagues, she will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her warmth of spirit and generosity of heart.
Her close friend, Tracey Chebet, eulogised her as a warm personality who cultivated friendships across all levels of the institution.
“Whenever we were at work, maybe going for lunch, you would stop to talk to so many colleagues. I came to understand how many friends you had when you were away for treatment. Not a day went by without a phone call or a text asking how you were doing. These calls never stopped until the end, and they were always ready to support however they could,” she said.
Ms. Rose Muringo Wanjohi passed away on February 11, 2026, at The Nairobi Hospital while undergoing treatment.
