Sang’alo-Kanduyi Road will be handed over to KeNHA for maintenance, says Governor Lusaka𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟏𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓𝐁𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬
Senate Standing Committee on Roads and Transportation will held a meeting with Governor of Bungoma County, Kenneth Lusaka.
The meeting deliberated on a Statement concerning the status of construction of the road from the junction of Sang’alo to Kanduyi in Bungoma County.
Senate Standing Committee on Roads Chairperson Sen. Eddy Gicheru Oketch asked the Governor if the road had pending bills and if yes, how the County Government of Bungoma plans to settle the pending bills resulting from the works completed on the Sang’alo-Kanduyi road.
Bonventure Chengenk, CEC for Roads said that the County Government of Bungoma still owes the contractor a total of Ksh. 294 millions and an accrued interest of Ksh. 108 millions, the devolved unit has budgeted for the payment of the road pending bills from this financial year 2024/2025 to completion of the bill in financial year 2026/27.
The Governor said that after the payment of the pending bills for the road by the County Government of Bungoma, the Sangalo-Kanduyi road will be handed over to KenHa for maintenance.
